Silver cleaner for necklace?

I have a rather large silver necklace that I inherited along with some other things from an old lady....It is a long, semi-thick chain, interspersed with round balls about the circumfrance of large marbels. I have a tub of jewelry cleaner, but this thing is too big to cram into the tub...plus the cleaner's almost gone. Is there something else that I might have at home that I could use to submerge this piece in to remove the tarnish? I can't use toothpaste and creamy mixtures because of the chain...Thanks.

put a piece of aluminum foil in the bottom of your sink, then put 1 teaspoon salt and 1 teaspoon baking soda on the aluminum foil. place enough water to cover the necklace stir up the salt and soda and place the necklace in the water on top of the foil, let it sit for as long as it needs to. This will remove the tarnish. When finished dry and buff with a soft cloth.
