Use a TV as a monitor and still be able to watch Cable tv.
Can I hook up a LCD HDTV with an S-video input with a laptop with the same kind of input and be able to watch cable tv and use it as a monitor at the same time?
What I meant when I said at the same time I didn't really mean at the exact same time. I meant would I be able to use it for both purposes.
Yes you can use it for both. Much like you can switch on/off from a gaming console. I would not use S-Video though, the connection is not a good of quality as you can get. Many HDTV's now come with HDMI ports. You can purchase HDMI to DVI cables for about 15 dollars through Newegg.com or most retail stores. Thats what I use for my LCD HDTV and the quality is 10x what it looks like with S-Video.
I can switch between monitor and hdmi with my tv remote, much like I would if i was switching between tv and a dvd player.
