I am wanting my bedroom in black and cream Help??
I am decorating my bedroom and have an old fashioned bedknob and broomstick black and brass style bed with head and footer and a black and cream throw geometric pattern. I am having new beech wardrobes and a cream burber fleck carpet which looks like a black fleck. I fancy 3 cream walls and the bedhead wall black. what paper should I use patterned or self embossed? I am also stuck about what window dressing - blinds (roller venetian or roman) or curtains but unsure of mixing patterned curtains and want a modern feel . Also looking for a canvas maybe introducing a bright colour such as red or cerise pink to put above the nedhead. If I get it wrong my husband will go mad so any suggestions appreciated
if you paint the wall black at the front of the bed, the black headboard will be lost. I would suggest leaving a white section the same width as the bed and flanking on either side with black. you could also do this section at the head of the bed in white marble tiles with black veins. that would look great behind the black and brass headboard.
keep in mind that black paint looks much nicer in a flat or eggshell sheen. the glossy black looks very industrial.
Instead of a bright cherry red, a rich but muted shade would work far better as an accent. consider using a shade of russet or rust for your artwork choice. something bold, abstract and modern would look great, with a simple black frame

Do not be too alarmed by the bright colors when they hit the stores this fall. Remember there are other trends around this season and other ways of using brights different from top to bottom! A color consultant can help you decide what colors are best for your coloring. Let's look at what the trends are about and how use.
Lace
Lace is available on the street, especially in black and light neutrals this season. Almost everyone can enjoy the look that fits gives a team. If black is too hard to make your natural color, wearing a garment layers of black lace over a lighter neutral can give a softer look and laptops. Beware of lace, but if your look is natural, as you might find it too demanding and feel uncomfortable in it, even for the night.
Metallics
Metallics are popular in this season day and night. You'll find gold and silver, shimmering fabrics and lots of shiny sequins. Most types of colors can wear gold or silver tones, but if your dominant color is warm (shades of red hair), gold tones will be more noticeable in you. If, by contrast, has a dominant cold color (silver, ash gray or blond hair), the silver will be much more flattering for you.
Checks
Laid-checkered relaxed and can give a feeling of living in the country. The controls are ideal for classic personalities and natural, giving a guideline, but not extravagant. There beiges muted to suit the light and perishable (medium brown hair blonde) and work very well for the heats. Also present on the street are the tones black and white gray and subtle. These work best for those with a cool skin tone. If the check is bold with strong contrast that work better in the depths (dark hair and eyes) and grounds (dark hair, fair skin, light eyes). Be careful when using the controls to fit the shape of your body. If your body is curved check must be cut on the bias to operate. The surest way to keep checks on accessories such as handbags, scarves and shoes.
Brights
Bright are everywhere! They come in dresses, tops, coats, shoes, socks and bags. They are fun and exciting, but only you can decide how far it wants to lead? If you are a creative dramatic or you can really enjoy the amazing mix roses with red and purple, royal blue with cherry and bright teal water. Wherever you go there is the inspiration for new and exciting combinations. If more conservative in their eyes, perhaps only Brights add in small amounts in bags and shoes, or jewelry and belts.
