Are the Diamond probes used by jewlers 100% accurate? Can they mistake a rough diamond?
I have a rough stone that many feel is a diamond. I went to jewlers and there probe said no..I collect rocks and minerals and I have eliminated citrine,topaz,garnet and zircon-some of the hardest minerals known..My stone will not polish-sand or be cut by my dremel bits. In fact, it has ruined every bit I have tried. What else could it be?
No piece of equipment is 100% accurate but if you took it to a jewelers then they probably know. But take it to a certified gemologist to make sure.
Also, corundum is 9 on the Moh's scale so its just below diamond. Corundum comes in all colours.
