what does micro pave mean?

i always see that words on earrings and don't know what it means. and also, do you think theres a chance i could find real diamond earrings for 100$ or less?

WHAT IS MICRO PAVÉ
The term “micro pave” refers to the current style of jewelry where multitudes of small stones are set into the jewelry. Pavé in a literal sense means paved, paved with stones as an old street might be paved with cobbles. The surface contains many closely spaced stones. What is different in the definition used today is the word micro and in the setting styles.

In years past, pavé described both the idea of multiples of stone spaced very closely to cover the metal surface and to the setting method. Stones were generally set using what is called bead setting. Each stone was placed in a carefully drilled and taper hole in the metal; the stone placed there and then metal pushed over the edges of the stone. A tool was used to make a bead like prong on the stone and excess metal was cut away. The look is very clean and neat, creating an illusion to the eye of a sea of gemstones. Stones could be of any reasonable size.

Today, the term micro pave refers to any very closely set tiny gemstones. Micro refers to the small sizes of the gems. Pave refers to the close setting of the stones and not to the method of setting. We see rings covered with tiny diamonds and some of these designs are very lovely. The diamonds may range from less than a millimeter to very slightly larger. Actual diamond sizes may be as small as 0.005 ct and generally do not get larger than 0.01 carat in these micro designs. Setting is sometimes of the old method of bead setting but is often done with tiny prongs cast into the ring body to start with.

Rings may have two or three rows of diamonds down the shoulders of the ring and the sides of the ring may have many diamonds in place. Some even have these tiny diamonds set into the prongs holding the central diamond (or other chosen stone).

I doubt you will be able to find real diamonds in this seting for less than 100
