Eye Stone
Eye Stone

Does anyone know what the blue stone in Egyptian jewelry is ?
I have a necklace from Egypt and it has a blue stone with an eye inset. Hope someone can tell me what the stone is called.
As mentioned by the previous responders, lapis lazuli or turquoise are the most likely actual stones to be a part of your necklace. While lapis lazuli is not actually found in Egypt it was popular in ancient Egypt and so has continued to be popular for jewelry sold to tourists. Turquoise comes primarily from the Sinai (or did in ancient times) and so was/is also a popular stone.
There is a possibility that what you have is not a stone but a material called faience. It's a quartz frit based substance that is fired and produces a glaze. Depending on other additives it can be blue, green, red, etc. Blue or blue-green were very popular colors for faience in ancient Egypt and a number of faience objects were produced including amulets, inlays, statuettes, vessels, etc. Materials that imitate faience are also popular in modern jewelry.

It is not unusual to see gemstones used in jewelry accessories like necklaces, rings and bracelets and other decorative items. Marilyn Monroeâ € ™ s famous saying: â € are œDiamonds ™ € € s best friendA Girla has been adopted throughout to personify one of the most expensive gemstones. Unfortunately, these â € ~ best friends € ™ are so popular they have led to wars and endless poverty.
As magnificent as the diamond, I can only think of a gemstone that is truly worth is called the â € ~ gemstone for friends € ™ or â € œ target = "_self"> The Friendship Stone â € € "and that is the target =" _blank "title =" Tiger "> € ™ s Tiger Eye. The Tiger s Eye ™ € a semiprecious gem that historically used for protection. It is said that a stone that maintain a constant œeyeâ € â € to the owner. Jump But a few centuries later, the Tiger Eye ™ € s was discovered in large quantities in the soil of South Africa in the West 1880A € ™ s. It shows an effect of a narrow band of light, called Chatoyancy, which changes position as the stone is turned and forth.Â
The Tiger ™ € s gemstone eye is composed of quartz crystal deposits and a fibrous blue mineral called crocidolite. While in the soil, these crystals condense at the same time the mineral-rich hot fluids circulate through small cracks in the rock, which grow and fill. The combination of the two crystals and the crocidolite fibers to help form the effect of Chatoyancy ™ € s Tiger Eye is well known.
Metaphysically, the Tiger ™ € s Eye is said to require the owner to think clearly and to transform negative thoughts into positive energy. This promotes the realization of dreams and helps one to judge situations and determine each obstacle in the best manner possible.
If you are lucky enough to have the stone of friendship as a gift, either in the form of the gemstone itself or a Tiger € ™ s collar or other eye € ™ s Jewels Tiger Eye, it is likely that you will cherish forever â € "such as friendship itself. Friends are meant for each other always, and as the protection of the Tiger ™ € s Eye is known to be the only place that can appeal to â € € œrefuge in a storm. Friends allow us not only dream but to help find the best possible way to achieve our dreams. AA and friends help us see that despite the harshest of circumstances, there is always a bit of positive energy that are found.
Power you think of any other semi-precious gem other than Tiger ™ € s eye more appropriately called The Stone of Friendship?
