Do you have tips on how to get credit from cable/telephone?
Our utilities have been out since Friday (ice storm). Electric just came back yesterday. No idea when cable or phone will be back. I'm told it's a huge battle to get credited for outage days from the cable and phone companies. What's the best way to accomplish this with the least amount of battling?
you need to report to the utility company as soon as you are made aware of the outage, so that they can send a repair crew, and/or make notations in your account that your service is out...
once repairs are complete you should call the utility company back up and request a refund for the amount of time that you were out of service.
if the trouble was outside, and the utilities responsibility or fault then you should be given credit for the amount of days that you were out of service, this is never as much as you would like it to be... just take the standard bill (with out extra features, and fees) and divide it by the number of days in that month and that is about what type of refund that you will get per day..
however, if the trouble is inside your home, with either the inside wiring, or your equipment, then you will NOT be entitled to a refund, as the wiring and equipment inside your home is your responsibility to maintain...
