Life expectancy of a tuxedo cat...?

I love my tuxedo cat Onyx so much. He's my baby. We sleep in the same bed together, I put my make-up on with him on my lap, in the summer we I share an occasional taste of a vanilla ice cream cone with him, I take him outside to play and even though he's a boy he doesn't want to be left out without me! Yeah, we're that tight. I even want to become a veterinarian I love cats so much. So, does anyone know the life expectancy of a tuxedo cat? There are hundreds of answers for pedigree breeds, so help cause he's 2 now and I wanna try for him to live to be 30! Lol!

Your vet probably has him listed as a DSH, Tuxedo. He has a color pattern, not a pedigree. That means he comes from a long line of survivors. Only the strongest survived in his lineage, and he is the result of that. So you can expect him to live out a long and healthy life.

An indoor only cat can typically live into his twenties. They never are with us as long as we want, but thirty might be really stretching it, but it is not unknown. Just quite rare.

Hopefully he is neutered. That is one of the best things for him.

Is it time to buy Biotechnology Investment?

July has been a good month for investors in biotechnology. Share prices in the sector biotechnology, as measured by the New York Stock Exchange Biotechnology Index is up 24% compared with 6.6% gain for the S & P 500. Earlier this month, Amgen (AMGN) reported better than expected results from a trial of its experimental drug denosumab protect bones in patients with advanced breast cancer. Amgen shares vaulted 16% on the news.

In the week just ended, the momentum of the shares of biotechnology has continued further. While a series of favorable clinical trial results was the greatest driver, a purchase notice big added the icing to the cake.

Clinical Trial Results

Bringing memories of the dotcom era, shares of Human Genome Sciences (HGSI) increased almost 300% to 12.50 per share after the company reported favorable results for its experimental lupus drug Benlysta. Targacept (TRGT) the shares more than doubled to $ 7.25 per share after its candidate for depression drug met its objectives in a phase intermediate. Onyx Pharmaceutical (ONXX) reported encouraging results for breast cancer treatment with Nexavar to push its shares higher by 21%. Shares of Celgene (CELG) rose almost 16% after the company announced a significant improvement in progression-free survival of patients taking Revlimid as a treatment first line for multiple myeloma.

Buyout

Continuing the trend of big pharmaceutical mergers biotechnology, and in Roche (RHHBY.PK) - Genentech and Eli Lilly (LLY) - ImClone, Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMY) announced it is buying Medarax (MEDX) for $ 16 per share. The purchase price implies a net Medarex more of $ 2 billion. Medarax shares rose nearly 90% in the ad.

Is it too late for the Board of the Biotech Bandwagon?

And unlike drugs manufactured by major pharmaceutical companies, Biotech drugs are largely insulated from generic competition. Major pharmaceutical companies are also actively working to strengthen its increasingly strong in biotechnology and the acquisition of biotech companies in their intellectual property.

Share prices have been strong in all areas since the market bottomed on March 9 and the S & P 500 is up nearly 46%. Biotech stocks are no exception. The market and the shares of biotechnology could be due to a pullback. From a timing perspective, it makes sense to put money work in the biotechnology sector in decline.

Investment Vehicles

Stocks of companies set biotechnology as Amgen, Biogen Idec (BIIB), Genzyme (GENZ) and Gilead Sciences (GILD) typically move with little correlation with the overall market. That said, these actions have a degree of event risk. Adverse outcomes of key efforts of drug development might cause such actions vanish in a flash. As such, it may be appropriate for investors with highly diversified portfolios.

Biotech Companies Smaller often promise wealth based on the success of one or two essential drugs. They carry a high degree of event risk as a failure in the activity essential drug development can quickly break a company. Only the most tolerant of risk investors usually tend to the court for such actions.

Bundled products such as sector funds in biotechnology and ETFs are more appropriate for most investors, since they reduce the most risk events. And, there are a lot of sector funds and ETFs to choose biotechnology. Investors looking for mutual funds may consider Fidelity Select Biotechnology (FBIOX) or Rydex Biotechnology (RYOIX).

In the ETF space, iShares Nasdaq Biotechnology (IBB) and SPDR S & P Biotechnology (Xbi) are among the most popular. Investors looking for global investment vehicle may look biotech PowerShares (PBTQ).
