Most jewelry pieces are very delicate and require special care. For example, pearls are especially demanding. Even products commonly used as the perfume and body lotion can damage them. If you want to avoid the painful prospect of throwing away your favorite jewelry, read on ...
Sterling Silver
Silver is a very soft metal and if you are careful during the cleanup, it's easy to get scratch marks from nails or rough fabric fibers evil. To remove fingerprints, light grease or dirt, soak for 2-3 minutes in a dilute solution of mild liquid soap, rinse well with clean water and dry thoroughly before storing in a plastic bag air tight.
Another problem with silver is naturally stain on the air. Rubbing a rag on silver will keep nice and shiny. However it notes that most of today's silver is a thin coat of finish on it as a protection against the elements. Unfortunately, this layer, eventually disappear. So do not apply too much force when cleaning or polishing. The shelter will be removed.
Gold
When cleaning jewelry gold, using a soft damp cloth usually do the trick. Grease or dirt on the stubborn hard to reach places, you can also use a brush soft bristle with warm water and mild soap. The use of abrasive chemical cleaners will reveal its natural glow and shine and should be avoided. Never use bleach or cleaners using chlorine.
Gemstone
Precious stones such as diamonds, rubies and sapphires are among the hardest substances and more difficult. These can be cleaned with warm water and soap or detergent and rinse well afterwards. You can also use an old soft toothbrush to remove dirt and grease in areas difficult to access.
Semi-precious gemstones like opal, lapis lazuli, turquoise, malachite, amber, jade, etc., are very porous stones and can absorb liquids if soaked. Over time, water and detergents trapped within the stones can cause discoloration. Never stop this kind of jewelry. We recommend cleaning your gemstone jewelry with a soft cloth dampened with warm water. These semi-precious gemstones are too soft and can easily be scratched by other jewelry. Parts of the store with these precious stones separately and have them individually wrapped in tissue of a jeweler.
Pearl
Pearls are very delicate and require extra care. The excessive dryness and heat can make pearls become brittle. Surface of the pearl nacre is fragile and very sensitive and can be damaged by normal household chemicals. Keep away from perfume, hair spray, hand and body lotion. Put your jewelry pearls only after putting on makeup and perfume spray. Do not expose to blow dryers.
Clean your jewelry with pearls by rubbing with a soft damp cloth after each use. Store them away in a bag for jewelry that may scratch the surface. They should be stored at room temperature.
