Just bought a "sterling silver" necklace for $100 and it is turning pink?
Has anyone else had this problem, what could this mean (is it fake)?!?
One of the drawbacks of sterling silver jewellery is that it tarnished in the air. Even though pure silver does not tarnish, sterling silver does. And so sterling silver jewellery left in the air is prone to oxidization and it tarnishes. The tarnish can easily be removed by buffing the jewellery with a cotton cloth regularly. And if it is a lot tarnished then some jewellery polish will remove the tarnish. You can also make a polish at home of hot water, salt and baking soda, placed in a pan lined with a tin foil. Place your tarnished sterling silver jewellery in it, the tarnish will be transferred to the foil.
Don't worry just follow the above mentioned tips.
