How can I attach half-drilled pearls to other components?
How do I attach half-drilled pearls to other components, such as studs, to make earrings, or at the end of a silver chain?
Do you put glue on the part that goes inside the hole? If so, what type/brand of glue should I use? Is there some other way to use half-drilled pearls?
There are two schools of thought when it comes to which epoxy is the best to use when attaching pearls to posts. The classic old-school method is to use a jeweler's two-part epoxy. These are available in any jewelry supply store, and they set in four minutes to 24 hours depending on the brand.
What our company uses (PearlParadise.com) is something newer and much easier than a two-part epoxy. It is a type of glue called Vigor. Vigor sets immediately and is completely safe with pearls. Vigor will not loosen either (without soaking the pearl) so you will never have to worry about the pearl coming off accidentally.

When setting the pearl put the epoxy on the tip of the post, not in the drillhole. Use a very small amount; less than a bead. If using Vigor it would be wise to have a pearl-safe epoxy remover nearby because it the epoxy overruns it will set on the pearl surface instantly. Attack is a good choice.
