Turquoise Necklace

Who do I ask to see if my turquoise necklace is fake or not?
I have a ver pretty silver and turquoise necklace that was given to me 35 years ago. I've never worn it because it was just not my style. I've just recently thought about selling it on eBay. Do I carry it to a jewerler to see what the value could be? The silver has never turned black, could it be zinc? It's still shiney and the large turquoise stone is very pretty a nd hasn't turned.
Look in your local yellow pages for jewelry dealers, and specifically look for southwest as specialty. Then call and ask if they appraise SW turquoise and silver jewelry. Ask what they charge for an appraisal. Set an appointment and go. You could sell it on eBay or in one of your local newspaper want ads. Don't let the person come to your home to see it; make an appointment somewhere you know someone and are safe if you sell it anywhere but eBay. People coming to your home could later rob you, so be careful.
